The Tesla Model Y – which was recently named 2022 Car of the Year by News Corp Australia – ranked 10th overall in November sales.
Australians bought 1,805 Model Ys and 391 Model 3 sedans last month.
Tesla’s sales of 2,196 for the month accounted for about half of all electric car sales in Australia.
It also topped mainstream brands like Honda
Nissan and Suzuki.
MG was the seventh best-selling manufacturer in November
It sold 5,497 vehicles, just 22 behind automaker Hyundai and ahead of big names like Volkswagen (3,045) and Subaru (3,701).
MG sold 3,051 units of the ZS small SUV
Enough to make it the fourth most popular car in November.
The ZS is also the best-selling SUV in the country
Beating out the popular Toyota RAV4 (2282) and Mazda CX-5 (1949).
Great Wall Motor (GWM)
Which includes Haval, has sold nearly 3,000 vehicles, with sales up more than 47% for the month and 29% for the year.
Commercial vehicle-focused LDVs are proving to be popular as sales continue to grow.
Electric car maker BYD posted an impressive first-month sales of 845 vehicles.
In November
China became the third-largest car exporter after Australia, surpassing South Korea.
New car buyers in Australia continue to buy Utes at breakneck pace.
The Toyota HiLux (5440) and Ford Ranger (5073) were the best-selling vehicles nationwide.
Sales of the popular and expensive four-wheel-drive vehicle continued to soar as Ford
Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi and Toyota posted positive growth over the past month.
Large American pickups from Ram and Chevrolet continue to grow
Australians bought almost twice as many Ram 1500s in November as they did in the same month last year.
Sales at the South Korean automaker plummeted again last month.
It sold 5,519 vehicles in November
About 1,300 fewer than the same month in 2021.
Overall
Sales were down about 20% in November, but on the bright side, the brand remains generally profitable in 2022 with sales up about 1,800 vehicles.
Kia rubs salt in the wound
Hyundai’s sister brand hit a record high of 6,120 units, taking sales up to about 4,000 for the year.
The Japanese giant has had a memorable year
With sales down around 38% in the first 11 months of the year.

Volvo is one of the few bright spots of continued growth
Sales rose 59 percent in November and about 15 percent for the year.
